Hi folks, I received another spoof email (I get tons of these especially that I’m an active eBay buyer/seller as I’m sure most people do as well), anyway the email will appear to come from or even originate from a legitimate source such as Pay Pal in this case when in fact it’s not & is used to “Phish” for your personal info.
It works by treating that either your access to your Pay Pal account is restricted or limited in some way OR that you have a Pay Pal claim (they randomly target high volume sellers thinking that them not know what they have sold – I likewise always knew this was a scam as I don’t sell “Gucci bags”
or stuff like that [although I think that they think is if sell that stuff you might also fall for the scam??] anyway they tell you that all you have to do is click a link w/in the context of email where you will be redirected to usually seemingly similar web page such as that by Pay Pal we will use Pay Pal as an example but they also target account holders in major banks like Bank Of America, or Wachovia as well as Credit Card companies like Master Card or Visa.
Now if you enter your personal info “to verify” or “unlock” your account they will have all the info they need for your make money online identity theft & then some.
So Bottom line if you receive an email such as this ignore it (so are said to contain viruses but in my experience thats usually not the case as their primary intent is to redirect you to their fake site so they can relinquish you of your identity, still if you receive one (& open it) you might wish to forward to spoof@paypal.com so they can investigate it further (although don’t hold your breath as most of these scammers are located in countries such as Nigeria or Congo or like & are difficult to prosecute)
