Yo, yo, you wanna be an accountant? Think it over,
It ain’t easy, you might need a four leaf clover.
If you ain’t willing to work hard, then can it -
It’s the most sought after job on this planet.
Now, you tell me you wanna be an impartial judge of my solvency?
Now, you tell me you wanna protect the world from corporate fraudulency?
Now, all that sounds like fun, son, but you gotta walk before you can run.
To know what these numbers mean you gotta know the debit credit theory!
Debits on the left, credits on the right,
Debit left! Credit right! Debit left! Credit right!
For complete satisfaction,
Balance all of your transactions.
So, if you really wanna know, ’bout your cash flow, where your money go?
Then give in to the temptation,
Understand the fundamental accounting equation.
An asset increasing is a debit,
An asset decreasing is a credit.
The reverse is true for liabilities and equity,
If you get this then you get accountancy!
You ain’t born a high roller, gotta work your way up to controller.

In the United States, Social Security refers to the federal Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) program. The original Social Security Act (1935) and the current version of the Act, as amended encompass several social welfare and social insurance programs. The larger and better known programs are:
Federal Old-Age (Retirement), Survivors, and Disability Insurance
Unemployment benefits
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
Health Insurance for Aged and Disabled (Medicare)
Grants to States for Medical Assistance Programs (Medicaid)
State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
Social Security is a social insurance program that is funded through dedicated payroll taxes called Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA). Tax deposits are formally entrusted to the Federal Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund, the Federal Disability Insurance Trust Fund, the Federal Hospital Insurance Trust Fund, or the Federal Supplementary Medical Insurance Trust Fund.
The main part of the program is sometimes abbreviated OASDI (Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance) or RSDI (Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance). When initially signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1935 as part of his New Deal, the term Social Security covered unemployment insurance as well. The term, in everyday speech, is used to refer only to the benefits for retirement, disability, survivorship, and death, which are the four main benefits provided by traditional private-sector pension plans. In 2004 the U.S. Social Security system paid out almost $500 billion in benefits.
By dollars paid, the U.S. Social Security program is the largest government program in the world and the single greatest expenditure in the federal budget, with 20.8% for social security, compared to 20.5% for discretionary defense and 20.1% for Medicare/Medicaid. Social Security is currently the largest social insurance program in the U.S. where combined spending for all social insurance programs constitutes 37% of government expenditure and 7% of the gross domestic product. Social Security is currently estimated to keep roughly 40% of all Americans age 65 or older out of poverty. The Social Security Administration is headquartered in Woodlawn, Maryland, just to the west of Baltimore.
Proposals to privatize Social Security recently became part of the Social Security debate during the Bill Clinton and George W. Bush presidencies.
One reason for the proposed changes in 1939 was a growing concern over the impact that the reserves created by the 1935 act were having on the economy. The Recession of 1937 was blamed on the government, tied to the abrupt decrease in government spending and the $2 billion that had been collected in Social Security taxes. Benefits became available in 1940 instead of 1942 and changes to the benefit formula increased the amount of benefits available to all recipients in the early years of Social Security. These two policies combined to shrink the size of the reserves. The original Act had conceived of the program as paying benefits out of a large reserve. This Act shifted the conception of Social Security into something of a hybrid system; while reserves would still accumulate, most early beneficiaries would receive benefits on the pay-as-you-go system. Just as importantly, the changes also delayed planned rises in contribution rates. Ironically if these had been left in place they would have come into effect during the wartime boom in wages and would have arguably helped to temper wartime inflation.
The amendments established a trust fund for any surplus funds. The managing trustee of this fund is the Secretary of the Treasury. The money could be invested in both non-marketable and marketable securities.
Calls for reform of Social Security emerged within a few years of the 1935 Act. Even as early as 1936, some believed that women were not getting enough support. Worried that a lack of assistance might push women back into the work force, these individuals wanted Social Security changes that would prevent this. In an effort to protect the family, therefore, some called for reform which tied women’s aid more concretely to their dependency on their husbands. Others expressed apprehension about the complicated administrative practices of Social Security. Concerns about the size of the reserve fund of the retirement program, emphasized by a recession in 1937 led to further calls for change.

A Gwinnett County judge denied bond on Friday for a mother whom police say carried out a major identity theft scheme from her home in Suwanee. Last month, detectives found counterfeit checks, thousands in cash and credit cards at Annette Ford’s home.
Ford faces charges of identity theft, first-degree forgery, and theft by taking.
Police believe Ford was part of a major operation that used unsuspecting victim’s personal information to collect thousands of dollars in fraudulent tax refunds. Prosecutors say that according to her 2010 tax returns, she only made about $10,000 in income, but they say about $180,000 in cash was found inside her home during a raid.
Prosecutors say more than 5,700 people may be victims of the operation. They say the victims have not been notified yet, but authorities will contact them once they sort out exactly what has been jeopardized for each individual victim.
They believe Ford made roughly $2.5 million by stealing social security checks, filing false tax returns and passing counterfeit checks. They say while Ford is the only person charged as of now, they believe at least six others will eventually be prosecuted
Ford will remain in jail while she awaits a trial date.
